Tennessee Disability MegaConference to Feature SimplyHome, Providers
This May, throngs of self-advocates, families, and disability professionals will descend on Nashville for the annual Tennessee Disability MegaConference. This conference focuses on empowerment, inclusion, self-determination, and choice, with sessions on topics including housing, employment, education, health care, recreation and leisure, mental health, and more.
This year’s conference will feature an engaging presentation with real-life stories of how enabling technology has impacted lives of Tennesseans, with contributions by Jason Ray of SimplyHome, Audria Frattini of Prospect, Inc., and Nick Filarelli of Core Services of Northeast Tennessee.
The presentation, titled “Partnerships for Lasting Independence with Enabling Technology,” will take place on Thursday, May 23rd, from 2:00-3:00pm.
Session Description: Come hear the compelling stories of how TN DIDD's Enabling Technology pilot program has created new outcomes through unique, transformational partnerships. These partnerships involve a broad group of stakeholders -- the agencies, service coordinators, the state, and tech vendors. Join Core Services of Northeast Tennessee, Prospect Inc., and SimplyHome as they share success stories of individuals blossoming in their independence in life and work as a result of the technology pilot. They will also detail exact steps they are taking to create long-term, sustainable change in the culture of the involved organizations.
Presenter Audria Frattini works for one of our partnering providers, Prospect, Inc., which is based in Lebanon, TN. Through her work as a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor and Vocational Evaluator, Audria helps career placement professionals, DSPs, people supported and their families to determine what technology options will best suit the individual’s needs.
Presenter Nick Filarelli will represent Core Services of Northeast Tennessee, where he is Program Coordinator and currently serves at the agency’s Tech Champion in Tennessee DIDD’s Enabling Technology pilot program.
Presenter Jason Ray serves as Chief Development Officer at SimplyHome, where his advocacy work with various states has resulted in Medicaid reimbursement for people seeking to access enabling technology.
