SimplyHome Installs Technology in 30 Oregon Apartments
We’re excited to announce that SimplyHome has installed assistive technology for 30 adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) in partnership with Albertina Kerr. The project at Kerr’s Wynne Watts Commons provides much-needed affordable housing to individuals with disabilities in the Portland, Oregon area, while also promoting independence and safety for people with I/DD to live life on their terms.

Assistive Technology Installed
The adults will be able to use SimplyHome technology through a tablet in their apartments, which will enable them to:
Adjust lighting
Turn fans on/off
Open and close window shades
Change the temperature
Open and close doors
SimplyHome Sensors have also been installed to notify a care team (options: text, email, or phone call) if the individuals need assistance (such as if a front door has been left open or someone is out of bed at night and has not returned to bed).
The above assistive technology empowers individuals to live their own self-determined lifestyles while also addressing the concerns of caregivers. You can learn more about Wynne Watts Commons here.
Enabling Technology To Support Independent Living with SimplyHome
SimplyHome designs and installs innovative and affordable technology solutions that transform how we care for individuals with disabilities, aging adults, and veterans.
Our sensor-based systems can adapt over time to alleviate concerns about cooking safety, medication adherence, and the risk of wandering or falls. We work with service providers, managed care organizations (MCOs), and families to mitigate challenges. Caregivers are notified only when they are needed, promoting the highest level of independence possible for the individual.
