This past June, SimplyHome was invited to work with Extreme Makeover: Home Edition in Pennsylvania to assist a young man who is paralyzed. We participated in this process because we make innovative technology that assists people to live independently in residential settings. As you can imagine, it was a busy week with a heartfelt ending. When our tech folks returned, one of them commented, "We volunteered for a week but were changed for a lifetime."
Out of this opportunity, the team at SimplyHome decided we would like to find a way to give back to our local community. After a conversation with Eblen Charities, we decided to partner on the "No Place Like Home" program. No Place Like Home will assist senior adults or people with disabilities in accessing assistive technology that will support independence in the home setting. It is our intention not only to provide new and refurbished equipment but also to have some funds that can purchase resources.
On Friday night, October 21, our episode of
Extreme Makeover: Home Edition
will air in a special 2-hour spot. In an effort to raise awareness about the new community program, we will be co-hosting
