The RL Mace Universal Design Institute (UDI) will conduct a training series in Buncombe County to improve the knowledge and skills of home access modification practitioners in Western North Carolina. The first event will take place on November 21, 2019 at the Land of Sky Regional Council. There will be five more events, one each subsequent month, January – May 2020, for a total of six home modification trainings.

The Safe and Accessible Modifications for Independence Training (SAMI) program will conduct training activities for professionals who are likely to encounter older adults and others hoping to age in place and will involve a series of part-day trainings that will cover essential information needed for successful home mod outcomes: needs assessments, design and product information, building materials, funding sources, and other resources on entrances, bathing, kitchen, home tech, and much more.
